Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading a team of lifeguards at indoor and outdoor pools on a military base, ensuring safety through monitoring swimmers, maintaining pool equipment and water quality, and guiding staff on rules and procedures.

It's a hands-on role that combines rescue skills with some supervisory tasks.

A good fit would be someone with lifeguard experience who enjoys working in a team environment, stays calm under pressure, and is passionate about water safety.

Key Requirements

  • Current Lifeguarding and First Aid certification from American Red Cross or equivalent (e.g., Star Guard, YMCA, ELLIS)
  • Current CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED certification from American Red Cross or American Heart Association equivalent
  • For water parks: Waterpark Lifeguarding and First Aid certification from American Red Cross
  • One or more instructor ratings, such as American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor (LGTI), Water Safety Instructor (WSI), Aquatic Exercise Association (AEA), or Adapted Aquatic Instructor
  • Ability to maintain all certifications current through timely recertification
  • Experience in lifeguarding duties, pool maintenance, water testing, and leading a team of employees

Carlisle Barracks Hiring Event : Interviews will be held on site.

When: 03 February 2026 from 1000 am - 3:00 pm Where: 1757 Bar and Grille, 920 Jim Thrope Road, Carlisle, PA 17013 Incentives and Bonuses Incentives will not be paid.

Resumes must be two pages (or less). Resumes should clearly demonstrate the applicant's relevant experience, skills, knowledge and abilities as they pertain to this position.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Possesses and maintains the following certifications: 1. Lifeguarding and First Aid (American Red Cross or nationally recognized equivalent i.e.

Star Guard, YMCA, or ELLIS); American Red Cross "Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional; CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED or equivalent (American Heart Association CPR/AED and First Aid); 2.

For Water Parks upgrade the certification to: (Waterpark Lifeguarding and First Aid; CPR/PR/AED) (American Red Cross) 3.

Maintains certifications current by recertifying with the American Red Cross Lifeguarding and 1st Aid, CPR/PR/AED program before the certifications expiration date.

Possesses one or more Instructor rating (see below): American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor(LGTI) authorization, or American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor(WSI) authorization; or Aquatic Exercise Association Instructor authorization(AEA); or Adapted Aquatic Instructor authorization.

All of the above certifications/authorization must be kept current.

These certificates must be reflected on your resume and can be uploaded at the time of application to be considered eligible for this position.

  • Serves as a lead lifeguard for indoor and outdoor pools and works under the direction of the Installation Aquatics Program Manager.
  • Performs lifeguarding duties and limited management functions.
  • Ensures the safe operation of the pool, filtration system, water balance, pool chemistry and performs water test.
  • Leads the work of other employees.
  • Answers questions of other employees on procedures, policies, and directives.
