Summary

This job involves leading a team of dispatchers in a military medical facility, handling emergency 911 calls, coordinating responses to fires, medical issues, and safety alarms, and ensuring smooth operations.

Key Requirements

  • One year of specialized experience at GS-07 level or equivalent, including receiving 911/emergency calls, dispatching personnel, and monitoring fire, life, and safety alarms in medical facilities
  • 52 weeks of federal service at GS-07 or equivalent within the last 52 weeks (time-in-grade requirement)
  • Eligibility under specific employment authorities, such as current DHA/DoD civilians, military spouses, veterans, or priority placement programs
  • Competency in attention to detail, customer service, decision making, flexibility, integrity/honesty, interpersonal skills, learning, reading comprehension, self-management, stress tolerance, and teamwork
  • Ability to operate Computer Aided Dispatching (CAD) systems, radios, and station alerting systems

About the Position: This is an obligated position.

An obligated position is one to which an employee has statutory restoration rights or entitlement based on active military service, recovery from a compensable injury, or return rights based on an overseas tour.

Temporary Appointment NTE - Position may be filled as a Temporary Appointment NTE 1 Year. Temporary appointments may be extended up to a maximum of three (3) years.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes receiving 911 calls or other emergency calls to determine problems, dispatching to appropriate personnel and monitoring or responding to any of the following, fire, life, and safety alarms for medical facilities.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Attention to Detail Customer Service Decision Making Flexibility Integrity/Honesty Interpersonal Skills Learning Reading Comprehension Self-Management Stress Tolerance Teamwork Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).

Current permanent Federal employees (to include permanent Army employees) applying for a Temporary appointment will be appointed/converted into a Temporary appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position.

Major Duties:

  • Responsible for the receipt and effective evaluation of 911 emergency calls
  • Distribute and balance workload among employees in accordance with established workflow.
  • Ensure all policies and regulations are followed and ensures safety in operations and training at all times.
  • Give on-the-job training to new employees in accordance with established policies and practices.
  • Operate Computer Aided Dispatching (CAD) system, radios and station alerting systems.
