Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading a team to manage the design, building, testing, and support for submarine motor modules in a major Navy shipbuilding project.

You'll handle planning, budgets, schedules, and problem-solving to ensure everything stays on track.

Full Job Description

You will serve as a COLUMBIA CLASS LEAD PRODUCTION MANAGER in the COLUMBIA CLASS CONSTRUCTION AND TEST MANAGEMENT DIVISION of SUPERVISOR OF SHIPBUILDING GROTON.

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector overseeing design, construction, test, and logistic support efforts for submarines.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Major Duties:

  • You will oversee the organization's strategic plan, schedule, budget management planning, reporting and execution of the authority for construction, outfitting, and test of the Motor Module activities as delegated by PMS397.
  • You will coach the team in the selection and application of problem solving methods and techniques, provide advice on work methods, practices and procedures, and assist the team in identifying the parameters of a viable solution.
  • You will lead the team in identifying, distributing and balancing workload and tasks among employees in accordance with established work flow, skill level and occupational specialization.
  • You will monitor and report on the status and progress of work to see that the supervisor's instructions on work priorities, methods, deadlines and quality have been met.
  • You will monitor EBC's program performance and progress regarding cost, schedule and scope.
  • You will review and analyze all formal documentation associated with the Motor Module detail design, construction and test phases, and of comparable documentation for design support contracts, and related programs.
  • You will review EB generated Change Notification Reports (CN), Problem Sheets (PS) and respective level of Assembly (LOA) for overall design and production engineering impact and action.
