Full Job Description

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Lead Police Officer to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position: Incumbent will serve as a Lead Police Officer within the Directorate of Emergency Services at Joint Base Lewis Mcchord, Wa.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Serve as a police officer mentor/Instructor by conducting duties as Field Training Officer, providing guidance on law enforcement policies and procedures to team members; 2) Perform law enforcement duties to include collect evidence, conduct searches, and administer first aid; and 3) Enforce laws to protect personnel and property.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). Major Duties:

  • Respond to and investigate emergency calls, complaints and other calls for service.
  • Conduct traffic law enforcement patrol using specialized equipment such as radar, Lidar and breathalyzer.
  • Perform protection duties to deter, detect, and deny unauthorized access at fixed installation, internal compound, and incident perimeter posts.
  • Operate the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) terminal in accordance with federal and state laws to transcribe data.
