Job Description

Summary

This role involves leading nursing efforts in a government agency focused on border security, where you'll guide health programs, review medical cases related to veterans' disabilities, and research occupational health issues to advise management.

Full Job Description

Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S.

Customs and Border Protection, Office of Human Resources Management; Talent Management Directorate; CBP Hiring Center located in Bloomington, MN.

Additional selections may be made to include other organizational divisions and/or units within the duty location(s) listed above.

Basic Requirements: Education: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required.

This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S.

Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.

Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.

Nurse Licensure/Registration: For all grade levels and positions, applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination .

In addition, you must possess and maintain a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional registered nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

Experience: You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Providing, guiding and training using medical expertise associated with broad range of health programs offered by the agency; Preparing and interpreting case reviews, medical and other data related to Veterans' Disability Evaluations and researching new and complex occupational health matters and provides results of research to management.

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is a federal law enforcement agency that requires all applicants to undergo a thorough background investigation prior to employment in order to promote the agency's core values of vigilance, service to country, and integrity.

To be considered well qualified under CTAP, you must be rated at a minimum score of 85 for this position. Major Duties:

The position serves as a Lead Nurse Consultant within Customs & Border Protection (CBP) and will allow you to utilize your expertise with assisting the Pre-employment Clearances and Scheduling Branch in administering and coordinating the agency's pre-employment requirements and assisting with the development of medical standards.

This position starts at a salary of $116,038.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $150,852.00 (GS-13, Step 10).
