Summary

This job involves leading teams to manage and secure IT networks and cybersecurity systems for the Department of Defense, focusing on planning projects, designing solutions, and handling budgets to support national cyber missions.

Full Job Description

This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service.

It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command.

It is in the Professional Work Category at the Senior Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure. In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below.

Basic Requirements: Applicants must have IT-related experience demonstrating the following competencies appropriate to, or above, the level of this position.

Attention to Detail- experience reviewing my own information technology-related work or data and have been asked by others to review their work or data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards.

Customer Service - experience maintaining relationships with customers, assessing current information technology needs of customers, and developing or identifying information technology products and services that are tailored to meet customer needs.

Oral Communication -briefing mid-level management and IT staff on the status of information technology systems, projects, or daily operations, including the communication of technical information to a non-technical audience.

Problem Solving - identifying alternatives to address complex information technology-related issues by gathering and applying information from a variety of sources that provide a number of potential solutions.

AND Qualifying Experience: In addition to meeting the basic requirement, applicants must possess qualifying experience.

To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position.

  • Prepares acquisition, management, implementation, and transition plans for a wide range of assigned network IT management and projects at DISA J6 C4E and supported commands.
  • Provide leadership and technical guidance throughout the project management process to achieve the Joint goals and objectives. Work closely with functional managers to ensure systems meet user requirements and expectations.
  • Remain abreast of external infrastructure designs and development activities. Closely monitors progress and follow-on capabilities and prepare plans to incorporate improvements into existing system architecture.
  • Develops cost estimates, budget inputs, and Program Objective Memorandum (POM) inputs to satisfy network hardware, software, training, and life cycle support requirements.
  • Reconciles conflicting mission needs with functional requirements. Analyzes broad goals against system design and technology to translate them into actionable management tasks that align with the command's core mission.
  • Provides technical leadership to the J6 team, applying a uniform network design process for procuring data communication services. Designs and adapts IT services for J6 network systems while staying current on relevant standards and regulations.
  • Lead IT teams in the maintenance, modification, development, and management of IT projects and security systems. Ensure the organization's strategic plan, mission, and values are communicated to team members and integrated into their work.
  • Coordinates security discussions and integrates information systems security with other disciplines. Ensures total infrastructure protection for the network environment and systems meet security certification and accreditation requirements.
