Job Description

Summary

This job is for a lead firefighter at a Marine Corps base in California, where you'll guide a team in handling fires, medical emergencies, hazardous spills, and rescues while also maintaining equipment and promoting fire safety.

Full Job Description

You will serve as a LEAD FIREFIGHTER in the FIRE, RESCUE & EMERGENCY SERV. BRANCH of MARINE CORPS AIR GROUND COMBAT CTR.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Leading and directing day to day emergency and non-emergency responsibilities, tasks, and duties of the workforce; AND proficient in fighting fires of structural, wildland, perform emergency medical, hazardous materials, urban search and rescue, emergency services communications, and fire prevention activities.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Major Duties:

  • You will lead and direct the operation, efficiency of the crew in all aspects of firefighting, emergency medical, hazardous materials, urban search and rescue, fire prevention and communications.
  • You will direct crews on daily basis in the maintenance of all firefighting, medical, hazardous materials, and communications equipment, ensuring proper condition and serviceability: initiates action to correct discrepancies.
  • You will participate in public education activities as required, to carry out evacuation drills, resets local alarm and sprinkler systems, inspects major occupancies during peak operating hours making sure fire regulations are being adhered to.
  • You will respond to structure fires, wildland fires and medical emergencies.
  • You will respond to downed aircraft emergencies, hazardous materials incidents and technical search and rescue emergencies.
