This position is located in the Policy and Analysis Division of PFPA.
The Policy and Analysis Division provides expert analysis, policy, and staff support on all aspects and matters related to cross-cutting integration of general PFPA policies, pertinent legislation, as well as programmatic implications of DoW authorizations bills.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT CONTINUED: The employee assigned to this position is designated as a MISSION ESSENTIAL EMPLOYEE.
Mission essential employees may be required to report for, or remain at, work in dismissal or closure situations due to adverse weather conditions, natural disasters, or other emergency situations ( e.g., building closure due to power outage) causing disruptions of government operations, and are required to maintain contact with their supervisor during any dismissal or closure situation unless specifically excused by their supervisor.
This position may require occasional travel away from your normal duty station for official business, inside and outside the continental U.S. on military or commercial aircraft.
10% occasional travel required to present briefings and attend conferences. In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below.
You may qualify at the GS-13 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector) that demonstrates your ability to: Analyze and measuring the effectiveness of law enforcement related policies; and Evaluate new or modified legislation for potential impact upon agency law enforcement operations and adapt basic legislation into program goals; and Prepare directives, policy statements, legislative proposals, and other written guidance to introduce new initiatives and recommendations.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Incumbent typical work assignments may include the following: Law enforcement (LE) policy analyst and consultant for the PFPA Office for a broad spectrum of areas ranging from national security policy, emerging doctrine and issues, organizational design, force structure and management, and congressional activities.
Receives broad, general administrative guidance from the Supervisory Plans Officer and independently identifies issues to be analyzed and resolved.
Performs work as a self-directed action officer while interfacing with other member of the agency headquarters. Documents Law Enforcement standards and procedures.
Identifies issues of contemporary and future impact on the agency and conducts analysis of their implications and alternatives. Subject matter expert for law enforcement policies.
Performs other duties as assigned.
