The primary purpose of this position is to provide Laundry and Dry Cleaning services to DoD units to support their missions.

In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-7300 Laundry, Dry Cleaning And Pressing Family.

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.

Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

The screen out element for this position is ability to do the work of a LAUNDRY WORKER without more than normal supervision.

JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1.

Knowledge of unit receiving and marking procedures in order to process, mark and/or reject items; assembling and issuing procedures in order to ensure all items for each individual customer are accounted for and assembled together.

2. Sufficient knowledge of laundry/dry cleaning operations in order to search for missing items in obvious locations. 3.

Accuracy and speed required to maintain production standards, avoid loss of items, or mistakes in types or quantities of items. 4.

Ability to read laundry and dry cleaning tickets, do simple counting to customer or put numbers in order.

Physical Effort: Work requires continuous standing and walking on concrete floors and frequent moving and bending. Most tasks require quick hand and arm movements.

Continually handles weights up to 25 pounds such as bundles of laundry; occasionally may lift items up to 50 pounds.

Working Conditions: Works in an extremely noisy and usually hot and humid environment. Work in the receiving area may involve exposure tocold weather.

Is exposed to the possibility of cuts and bruises from carts or machinery. Exposed to more serious injury fromdropping sling loads, back strains and falls on slippery floors.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.

You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:

  • - Receives unit organization and Federal Agencies laundry and dry cleaning of bulk and individual customers. - Marks items using a system operating a marking machine. - Assembles items for return to customer. - Assembles laundry and dry cleaning for shipping.
