Job Description

Summary

This job involves maintaining and caring for outdoor areas like golf courses, sports fields, marinas, and RV parks at a naval base in Texas to keep them in top shape.

Full Job Description

This position is located at the Gym and Fitness Center, which is part of the Morale, Welfare and Recreation Department aboard Naval Air Station Corpus Christi, TX.

Incumbent is under direct supervision of the Fitness Director.

The purpose of this position is the maintenance and upkeep of grounds and turf of the gold course, sports fields, marina and RV park to ensure that they are in excellent condition.

In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Knowledge and ability to manipulate both tractor and equipment controls at the same time, e.g., operate tractors while raising and lowering gang mowers.

Skilled in operating boom slope mowers to cut grass on slopes while operating the tractor on level ground or along roads.

Knowledge of equipment to make multiple connections from the equipment to the tractor, connecting mechanical drive shafts and hydraulic lines.

Skilled in performing tasks associated with grounds maintenance. Knowledge of operating characteristics of the tractor and towed or attached equipment. Knowledge of equipment capabilities.

Possess or be able to obtain applicable state and/or government driver's licenses You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience.

You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

Major Duties:

  • Digs and rakes ground to prepare greens and clean traps Cuts turf on greens and tees using hand and power mowers at the gold course Repairs cart paths, walks and other areas using shovels, rakes, spades and other tools Removes, repairs and rotates tires Operates shop tools and uses hand tools to sharpen mower blades, trimmers and edgers Assists in cleaning, repair and storage of recreation equipment Drives a vehicle to retreive and launch rental boats, inspects pier and campsite area for cleanliness and authorized campers Performs lawn maintenance and general up-keep of campsites and marina area Ensures sports fields are kept in excellent condition for sports events Performs other duties as assigned
