About the position: This position will be assigned to the Langley Youth Programs at Langley AFB, VA.

This is a Regular Part Time position that is guaranteed 20 hours per week but can be scheduled for up to 34 hours per week.

The purpose of this position is to perform manual labor tasks involving the use of common hand tools and simple power equipment. Who May Apply: Open to everyone.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience: Basic Requirements: Must be at least 18 years of age, hold a high school diploma (or equivalent). Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.

Experience in operating one or more gasoline, diesel, or electric powered wheeled vehicles with a GVW of up to 10,000 pounds such as pickup trucks, sedans, vans, jeeps, etc.

Experience of defensive driving techniques is desired, including skills to recognize developing hazardous road and traffic conditions and the judgment to select alternate routes to avoid potential problems.

Qualifying Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs): Ability to use, control, and clean common handtools, and simple power equipment.

Ability to follow oral and/or written instructions involving duties with several distinct tasks or steps.

Must be physically able to frequently lift and carry medium to heavy objects up to 40 pounds, and be able to occasionally lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds.

Must be able to actively bend, stoop, stand, reach, and work in awkward positions. Condition(s) of Employment: Must be able to satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical.

Successful completion and favorable adjudication of applicable background investigation (Tier 1 Level) is required.

Must possess a valid state driver's license appropriate for the size and type of vehicle operated. Must provide a copy of driving record. Must maintain a good driving record.

This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use. Major Duties:

Loads and unloads heavy boxes, bulky supplies, and materials to and from tracks, dollies, etc, moves heavy boxes, cartons, or luggage by hand, handtruck, or dolly; opens crates and boxes using crowbars, and cuts bands using shears; stacks boxes and cartons where directed.

Performs field maintenance and site preparation across all programs.

Runs hand lawnmowers or (domestic type) powered lawnmowers, when this does not require heavy physical effort (for example, on steep grades); edges, clears small trees and bushes, using handsaw, hatchet, or clipper.

Using a shovel, digs ditches and trenches where a pick is not needed to loosen the dirt, and where grading and sloping is not required; fills holes with dirt and levels bumps and low places, using shovel, hand tamper, and rake.

Moves and arranges furniture as directed; replaces ceiling tiles, performs event set up and tear down, assists with unloading and stocking kitchen, shovels snow from sidewalks; washes and waxes cars and trucks by hand or power buffer.

May be required to perform simple painting tasks around program. Drives one or more types of government vehicles such as sedan, van, truck, etc.

Reads maps and judges road/traffic conditions to determine the shortest and safest route. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Physical Effort: Moderately heavy physical effort is required in occasionally lifting and carrying heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and in pushing heavy furniture, loading carts, etc.

Frequently lifts and carries objects weighing up to 40 pounds. Working Conditions: Works inside or outside, occasionally in bad weather. If indoors, may be exposed to dirt and dust.

Chance of serious injury (e.g., broken bones, severe cuts, strained back). Continuous standing, walking, stooping, or lifting is required.
