Under limited supervision, this position will perform advanced level analytical, diagnostic, and epidemiological laboratory testing in the Chemical Terrorism Unit of the Threat Preparedness Section. Primarily responsible for conducting high complexity testing of chemical threat agents, including cyanide and organophosphates, using Inductively Coupled Plasma-Mass Spectrometry (CP/MS), Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry (GC/MS), High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), and Liquid Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry (LC/ MS) instruments. Will perform a variety of laboratory duties, analytical procedure validations, and quality assurance and control studies.

Qualifications
Training: Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in a biological, microbiological, chemical or environmental science, medical technology, molecular biology, forensic sciences or related field.
ANDExperience: Three (3) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid laboratory experience that is clinical or environmental in nature that produces a test result.
ORSubstitution: Graduate course work in one of the areas as described above from a regionally accredited college or university may substitute at the rate of one (1) year experience for fifteen (15) semester hours of education.
Special Requirement: For positions which involve processing and analysis of human specimens and/or the generation or interpretation of laboratory results that may be used in the diagnosis or treatment of a disease or condition in humans, the incumbent must have or be eligible for licensure as a WV Clinical Laboratory Practitioner as required by 64C.S.R.§57.
