Job Description

Summary

This job involves traveling across parts of West Virginia to inspect contractors, heating and cooling systems, and plumbing work to ensure they follow state laws and safety rules.

You'll work from home but spend time on the road checking compliance, entering data into systems, and reporting findings.

It's a good fit for someone detail-oriented with a background in trades or inspections who enjoys fieldwork and learning on the job, as training is provided.

Key Requirements

  • Willingness to travel within Hancock, Brooke, Ohio, Marshall, and Wetzel Counties and other areas of West Virginia
  • Ability to accurately enter data into databases and prepare reports
  • Basic understanding or experience in construction, contracting, HVAC, or plumbing fields (training provided)
  • High school diploma or equivalent; post-high school education, training, or licensure in relevant areas preferred
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for fieldwork
  • Strong attention to detail and communication skills for inspections and documentation
  • Ability to perform physical inspections and other duties as assigned

  • This posting is for an inspector with the WV Division of Labor, Licensing section.
  • Headquartered at your home, you will have an area of assignment to travel within the state to inspect compliance with WV Code Chapter 30 Article 42, West Virginia Contractor Licensing Act; WV Code Chapter 21 Article 16,Regulation of Heating, Ventilating & Cooling Work; and WV Code Chapter 21 Article 14, Supervision of Plumbing Work.
  • Hands-on training will be provided.
  • Equipment will be provided.
  • Accurate data entry into databases and reports is required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
