Job Description

Summary

This job involves working directly with troubled youth in a secure facility, providing supervision, counseling, and support to help them in their daily activities and rehabilitation.

It suits motivated individuals who enjoy challenges, can handle rotating shifts including nights and weekends, and are comfortable with physical demands in high-risk situations.

A good fit would be someone passionate about guiding adolescents toward better futures, with at least a high school education.

Key Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • At least 19 years of age preferred

  • Physical fitness to lift up to 50 lbs. and handle physical interventions

JJYS Technician II
Cedar City, Utah

If you would like a position working with today's youth, then you are in the right place! A great way to start your career in Juvenile Justice is to become a Technician II. A Juvenile Justice Technician's work with delinquent adolescents in the following types of environments:
  • Short- and long-term secure confinement
  • Multi-use facilities
  • Community-based programs
Principal Duties
  • Assists in planning programs for youth, counsels youth under supervision, and provides direct care, supervision, and control of youth in secure, multi-use and related facilities
  • Works under moderate supervision with delinquent adolescents in short and long term secure confinement, observation, and assessment settings, in multi-use facilities or community based programs.
  • Oversees delinquent youth in group settings, individual encounters, visitations and community involvement activities.
  • Schedules activities and resolves potentially dangerous situations to ensure the safety of staff, clients, and or the public.
  • Writes or drafts correspondence, reports, documents and/or other written materials.
  • Coordinates and refers services of community resources, placement providers, collateral agencies, the court, and/or other community partners with families, clients, or patients receiving services.
  • Assists full time staff in identifying and applying appropriate security, safety, and/or control intervention techniques or devices to secure people, facilities, property, supplies or equipment
  • Communicates information and ideas clearly, and concisely, in writing; read and understand information presented in writing
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a motivated individual who enjoys being challenged while working with troubled youth. We are looking for a candidate who is available to work rotating shifts, which include nights, weekends, and holidays.

Preference
May be given to candidates 19+ years of age.
May be given to candidates who have a high school diploma or GED.
