This job involves leading a team of auditors in the U.S.
Department of Agriculture's Office of Inspector General to review and evaluate the security of the agency's computer systems and networks across the country.
The role focuses on ensuring that sensitive data and technology remain safe from threats by checking policies, tools, and procedures.

This position is located within the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Office of Inspector General which reports to the Assistant Inspector General for Audit.
As a team lead, the selectee is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of other auditors conducting audits, surveys, or other audit and inspection activities.

Time in grade: Current federal employees applying for a promotion opportunity must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirement of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level.
For example, 52 weeks at the GS-9 level for consideration for the GS-11; 52 weeks at the GS-11 level for consideration for the GS-12.

Basic Requirements: Individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.
Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate.
The agency has identified the specific level of proficiency required for each competency based on the on the requirements of the position being filled.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE GS-11: Candidates must meet one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 level in the Federal service or comparable experience not gained through federal service.
For this position, specialized experience is defined as experience providing support and assistance conducting audits and inspections of an agency's information systems nationwide and specializes in technical IT and cybersecurity evaluations of information system security programs, policies, procedures and tools, particularly those that ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of an agency's systems, networks, and data (e.g., government-owned servers, contractor-owned systems run on behalf of the government, personally identifiable information).
OR Possess a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR have completed 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree.
NOTE: Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. NOTE: Transcripts are required to substantiate possession of the claimed education.
OR Have a combination of graduate level education and specialized experience that together meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
