Key Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with at least 21 semester credits in computer science, data processing, computer information systems, networking, systems analysis, computer programming, information assurance, IT project management, or mathematics
  • Two years of professional experience equivalent to an Information Technology Programmer/Analyst P11 or IT Infrastructure P11
  • Alternatively, an associate's degree with 16 semester credits in relevant fields plus two years of experience as an application programmer, computer operator, or IT technician
  • Or, high school diploma plus four years of relevant experience as an application programmer or similar
  • Ability to design, develop, and maintain logical and physical database models for data warehouses
  • Knowledge of data modeling standards including naming conventions, abbreviations, definitions, and diagrams
  • Experience working with enterprise data warehouses and understanding agency-specific data needs

Full Job Description

The Department of Technology, Management and Budget supports the business operations of state agencies through a variety of services, including building management and maintenance, information technology, centralized contracting and procurement, budget and financial management, space planning and leasing, construction management, motor vehicle fleet operations, and oversight of the state retirement systems.

This position is with the Agency Services area of DTMB.

This position will act as the Senior Data Warehouse Modeler and has responsibility for the design, development, and maintenance of logical and physical database models for the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) Data Warehouse (DW) databases located on the State of Michigan Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW).

The MDHHS Data Warehouse serves as a primary source of strategic and operational information.

The Senior Data Warehouse Modeler needs to understand the current models and determine models to be developed based on the needs of the agency.

Additionally, this position ensures standards, such as naming, abbreviation, definitional, and diagram, are followed to ensure consistency and adherence to best practices.

DTMB does not participate in STEM-OPT.

ITPA 12 - Position Description

SIGNING BONUS:

This position may be eligible for a sign-on bonus of up to $2,500. Up to $1,250 to be paid upon new hire and the remainder to be paid after satisfactory completion of the initial probationary period (12-month period). This does not apply to current state employees.

Position Location/Remote Office: The office location is Lansing, MI. The State of Michigan is not able to offer employment to out-of-state applicants that do not plan to relocate.

The Department of Technology Management and Budget currently offers a hybrid work option which requires two days working on-site at the official work location and three days of remote work per week.

Requirements

Education

Information Technology Programmer/Analyst 12
Possession of a Bachelor's degree with 21 semester (32 term) credits in one or a combination of the following: computer science, data processing, computer information systems, data communications, networking, systems analysis, computer programming, information assurance, IT project management or mathematics.

Experience

Information Technology Programmer/Analyst 12
Two years of professional experience equivalent to an Information Technology Infrastructure or Programmer/Analyst P11.

Qualifications

Information Technology Programmer/Analyst 12
Possession of an associate's degree with 16 semester (24 term) credits in computer science, information assurance, data processing, computer information, data communications, networking, systems analysis, computer programming, IT project management, or mathematics and two years of experience as an application programmer, computer operator, or information technology technician; or two years (4,160 hours) of experience as an Information Technology Student Assistant may be substituted for the education requirement.

OR

Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school and four years of experience as an application programmer, computer operator, information technology technician, or four years (8,320 hours) of experience as an Information Technology Student Assistant may be substituted for the education requirement.
