Why it's a great opportunity: Join us for an exciting leadership opportunity as Supervisor in IT Client Technology Services supporting Pierce County and its 3,500 employees.

As an IT Systems Engineer Supervisor, you will develop, train, and lead the teams responsible for providing technology solutions and operational support of our voice and telephony services, the planning and public works department, and IT records investigations.

You and your team will ensure excellent end-user and business operations support by coordinating responsive process and service delivery, measuring and maintaining high customer satisfaction rates, implement progressive improvements to procedures, and manage related vendor relationships.

In addition to first call contact, this position oversees service delivery for central account administration and records requests.

The Information Technology Division’s 130 staff are responsible for building, operating, and maintaining the technologies that power essential public services in Pierce County.

Core daily responsibilities:

  • Supervise service delivery and employee performance for User Systems support teams.
  • Lead operational support for a variety of user system platforms including handheld, desktop, workstation and laptop hardware, associated operating systems and application software.
  • Facilitate assigned staff’s delivery of expert-level technical support on a county-wide basis.
  • Lead technical strategic planning and implementation of new user system platform technology standards.
  • Oversee and direct consulting services for customer departments regarding technology budgeting, computing solutions, client-oriented technology project implementation, re-location services, and user application productivity including meeting training needs.
  • Supervise service delivery and employee performance for the Telecommunication Systems support teams.
  • Lead operational support for Pierce County’s telecommunication systems including PBX, servers, databases, voice mail systems, contact center system, ancillary telecommunication equipment, Carrier services and remote site equipment to support a County-wide telecommunication network system.
  • Lead technical strategic planning and implementation of new telecommunication technologies to ensure an efficient, cost effective, reliable telecommunications network for the County.
  • Oversee back-end system implementation and operational support of the Telecommunication System network.
  • Provide advanced consulting for customer departments regarding telecommunication needs and services

Qualifications

  • A resume and cover letter are required for this position.
  • Additional education or experience may substitute for the recruiting requirements
  • A Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in, information technology, computer sciences, business, public administration or related field, AND
  • Eight or more years of information technology experience required, INCLUDING
  • Two years in a project lead or supervisory role.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.

Preferred/Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in IT program administration and project delivery including budget development, budget forecasting, work planning, status reporting, and presenting.
  • Strong negotiations skills and effective vendor management.
  • Experience and understanding of enterprise IT architectures, records management frameworks, IP telephony, cyber security frameworks, regulatory compliance, and system standards.
