Summary

This job involves acting as a senior consultant for managing IT configurations, helping develop and support policies and plans for technology systems in the Air Force.

It requires guiding management on IT setups to ensure everything runs smoothly and securely.

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as senior Information Technology (IT) Configuration Manager consultant to management in support of installation IT policy and plans.

This is a GG-12 position in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS).

The GG-12 duties for the "Professional" work category are at the "Full Performance" work level and are equivalent to those at the GS-12 level.

The selectee's salary will be set within the grade equivalent to a GS/GG grade based on the selectee's qualifications in relation to the job.

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions for the GS-2210, Information Technology (IT) Management Series (Alternative A).

Experience: Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate.

For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.

The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled. 1.

Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. 2.

Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.

Knowledge of a wide range of IT principles, concepts, and methods. 2. Knowledge of the policy and planning formulation process to prepare IT polices and plans. 3.

Knowledge of budgetary processes, cost-benefit analysis methods, and analysis of performance data to prepare persuasive budget recommendations in support of IT requirements. 4.

Skill in system architecture and the use of integration techniques and testing methods. 5.

Ability to analyze complexities of existing technology, review/revise/develop policy, initiate plans for enhancements, and provide management sufficient technical and cost analysis information, through written documentation and oral briefings, to render informed judgments.

6. Ability to maintain an up-to-date awareness of technological advances and predict how management can meet future requirements.

CONDTIONS OF EMPLOYMENT CONT.: Drug Testing: This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP)under the Air Force Civilian Testing Program.

Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing.

Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety.

Information Assurance Certifications is a condition of employment. This position includes information assurance (IA) work as a paramount duty requirement.

Per DoD 8570.01-M, the incumbent of this position must achieve the appropriate IA certification within 6 months of assignment to these duties.

A waiver of this 6-monthrequirement may be granted per DoD 8570-01-M, C3.2.4.2 or C3.2.4.3. Failure to receive the proper IA certification may result in removal from this position.

IA Category 3 - Technical/Level II (2). PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.

You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:

Serves as senior IT Specialist supporting the management of five segregated classified and unclassified Local Area Network/Wide Area Network (LAN/WAN) enterprises for thirty-five remote sites and five geographically separated units (GSUs) throughout Europe and Continental United States (CONUS).

Maintains and assesses configuration management plans to ensure optimization of connectivity between remote sites throughout the installation.

Functions as a senior technical advisor on contract and budget activities. Represents the organization at conferences and meetings and presents briefings.
