Job Description

Summary

This job involves managing and maintaining all IT systems for the Air Force's legal team, including setting up hardware, software, and cloud services to keep their networks running smoothly.

The primary purpose of this position is: To manage all aspects of information systems for the Judge Advocate Corps.

Provide implementation, configuration and maintenance of hardware, software, and cloud systems to support Legal Information Services networked systems.

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Information Technology (IT) Management Series 2210 (Alternative A).

Examples of specialized experience includes experience with f the concepts, principles, theories, and practices involved in engineering, mathematics, and/or computer science to perform studies, modify standard practices, and/or resolve issues related to the planning, development, fielding, and sustainment of complex electrical systems.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible.

One year at the GS-11 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-12 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.

NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of IT systems analysis, network, cloud and applications software concepts, functions, techniques, and capabilities sufficient to evaluate new and emerging IT security methods and principles, the feasibility of proposed new systems and applications software projects; and to design, write, test, debug, and maintain information systems and applications software and ensure successful integration with existing and anticipated infrastructure in the database environment Knowledge of IT security systems, tools, protocols, firewalls, network, and cloud security; knowledge of IT management information systems, cloud, networks, and applications software technology to isolate causes of problems between hardware, system, and applications software programs and to measure system performance and/or extend operating system capabilities to support organizational business processes and operations.

Knowledge of IT management information systems requirements and application software development techniques required in carrying out project assignments of considerable difficulty and with little specificity regarding approach to be followed; knowledge of support principles sufficient to receive, respond to, and ensure complete resolution of problems.

Skill and ability to maintain an up-to-date awareness of technological advances and predict how management can meet future requirements; skill to design and develop integrated plans to implement and maintain mission systems, applications, and new technologies within in-garrison and unprecedented deployed scenarios.

Ability to determine application and systems performance, troubleshoot issues affecting performance, and develop immediate fixes or workarounds to overcome shortfalls; ability to modify and adapt precedent solutions to unique or specialized requirements.

Ability to stay well informed on rapidly changing technology, to evaluate its possible impact on organization missions, and to develop plans to satisfy requirements; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, to produce highly technical reports, position papers, and briefings which are appropriate for the intended audience; and to maintain good working relationships PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.

You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Major Duties:

Serves as Senior System Administrator and as a technical advisor to management. Provides technical guidance and instruction to users and other IT specialists.

Implements and maintains IT cybersecurity systems and regulations that are applied to numerous heterogenous systems, networks, and the cloud.

Maintains liaison with contractors, manufacturers, professional organizations, and counterparts at other organizations.

Attends meetings, conferences, briefings, and seminars related to program planning, advanced technologies, and support system concepts.
