Summary

This job involves providing IT support to users, fixing technical problems, managing cybersecurity measures, and helping with IT projects in a government agency.

Full Job Description

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for STEM Positions, Cyber Security & Related Positions to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position: You will serves as a IT Specialist within the Army Review Boards Agency with duties relating to customer support, technical support, cybersecurity, IT project management, and acquisition support.

Position is located in Arlington, Virginia. Position may be filled as time-limited appointment Term NTE 2 years. This position is a TERM position.

Employees who accept time-limited appointments (to include employees with personal competitive status) will be placed in a non-status appointment and will be separated at the end of the time-limited appointment date.

There are no return/reemployment rights to the position vacated prior to accepting the time-limited appointment.

Basic Requirement for ITSPEC (CUSTSPT): Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes Resolving routine, non-routine, and complex IT incident tickets; Providing remote and hands-on IT customer support and system administration services; Ensuring application of cybersecurity policies and principles; Developing project scopes and deliverables for IT project management.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.

For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

The specialized experience must include, or be supplemented by, information technology related experience (paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, as appropriate) which demonstrates each of the four competencies, as defined: (1) Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.

Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: utilizing active listening to gather pertinent information, assess needs, and diagnose root causes of service/system disconnects.

(2) Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.

(3) Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.

Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Assist with presentations and briefings on all aspects of projects, participate in final project reviews, and ensure project alignment with critical command/unit priorities to achieve mission outcomes (4) Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

Examples of IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include: Research, evaluate, and provide feedback on problematic trends and patterns in customer support and system administration requirements.

Major Duties:

  • Coordinate schedules for IT support activities.
  • Plan and schedule the installation of new or modified hardware, operating systems, applications, system fixes, updates, and enhancements.
  • Monitor computer systems and servers for compliance with applicable laws, directives, regulations, security policies, and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Special Publications.
  • Conduct trend analysis to identify areas where additional customer training and assistance are needed and initiate appropriate action.
