Job Description

Summary

This job involves providing hands-on technical support for computers, printers, and mobile devices across a college campus, including troubleshooting issues, maintaining equipment inventories, and helping with network setups.

It also includes assisting the helpdesk with tickets, supporting cloud services like email and user accounts, and pitching in during college events or new tech rollouts.

Key Requirements

  • Associate degree and at least two years of experience in IT PC support, or high school diploma and four years of equivalent experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Electronics Technology (strongly preferred)
  • Certifications such as MCSE, Network+, or A+ (highly desired)
  • Experience providing desktop support for Windows PCs, Apple MACs, printers, iPads, tablets, and mobile devices
  • Ability to maintain PC configuration images, inventory databases, and user data preservation
  • Support for helpdesk ticketing system, including weekend rotational on-call duties
  • Knowledge of installing and maintaining workgroup network devices, switches, hubs, cabling, and wireless access points

Full Job Description

York Technical College, a member of the South Carolina Technical and Comprehensive Education System, is a public, two-year institution of higher education that offers a variety of associate degrees, diplomas, and certificates. Through maximizing student success, the College seeks to contribute to the economic growth and development of York, Lancaster, and Chester counties and of the State.

The IT Services Specialist III performs the following functions:

Provide Desktop support for faculty and staff on the main campus and satellite centers for Apple MACs, Windows PCs, printers, iPads, tablets pcs, and other mobile devices.

Contacts and assists field service or tech support when warranty or contract equipment malfunctions. Maintains inventory database to reflect equipment replacement or moves.

Maintain the master PC configuration images for all the various makes and models of PCs used on campus. Protects and preserves user data while imaging.

Provides support to the helpdesk, including weekend rotational on-call support. Responds to calls/tickets in our helpdesk ticketing system regarding issues for the PC equipment or software.

May provide limited direction for the part-time/temporary computer technicians and assists them with the daily maintenance, repair, and installation of computer equipment.

  • Installs and maintains various workgroup network devices (switches, hubs, and cabling) Assist with the deployment and installation of local campus and extension campus wireless access points.
  • Participates in the support of customers when using cloud services or on premise infrastructure, such as maintenance of Active Directory accounts, Office 365, multi-factor authentication, or back-up of PCs.
  • Provides support for other departments with IT needs during college events such as Enrollment Services and Tech Fairs, testing new IT services being implemented within the college, helping to deploy new technology campus wide, or assisting the inventory clerk in tracking computer inventory.
  • Performs other duties as required.
