Job Description

Summary

This job involves analyzing and improving IT systems to support defense operations, working closely with customers and partners to identify needs and provide technical guidance on cybersecurity and information management.

It's ideal for experienced IT professionals who enjoy solving complex problems, communicating technical details to non-experts, and collaborating across organizations in a high-stakes government environment.

Key Requirements

  • At least one year of experience equivalent to GG-12 level, including serving as a liaison with external partners, presenting to stakeholders, and documenting customer requirements for senior leadership
  • Attention to detail in reviewing IT work or data for accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards
  • Customer service skills in maintaining relationships, assessing IT needs, and tailoring products/services to meet them
  • Oral communication abilities, such as briefing management and IT staff on systems, projects, or operations, including explaining technical info to non-technical audiences
  • Problem-solving expertise in identifying alternatives for complex IT issues by gathering and applying information from various sources
  • Experience in applying analytical processes to plan, design, and implement information systems to meet business requirements
  • Knowledge in managing specialized systems software, such as database management and life cycle development

Full Job Description

This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service.

It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command.

It is in the Professional Work Category at the Senior Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure. It is located in the DISA FIELD OFFICE, US TRANSCOM SUPPORT DIVISON.

In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below.

Basic Requirements: Attention to Detail- experience reviewing my own information technology-related work or data and have been asked by others to review their work or data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency with standards.

Customer Service - experience maintaining relationships with customers, assessing current information technology needs of customers, and developing or identifying information technology products and services that are tailored to meet customer needs.

Oral Communication -briefing mid-level management and IT staff on the status of information technology systems, projects, or daily operations, including the communication of technical information to a non-technical audience.

Problem Solving - identifying alternatives to address complex information technology-related issues by gathering and applying information from a variety of sources that provide a number of potential solutions.

Qualifying Experience: To qualify at the GG-13, your resume must describe at least one year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success in the position.

Experience refers to any paid or unpaid experience, including volunteer work and Military service, that would be considered equivalent to work normally performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service.

For this position, qualifying experience is defined as: Experience serving as a liaison with external organizational partners; presenting information on products or services to stakeholders; and identifying and documenting customer requirements for presentation to senior leadership.

  • Applies analytical processes to the planning, design and implementation of new and improved information systems to meet the business requirements of customer organizations.
  • Provides technical support and guidance to staff in matters relating to information management (IT) issues that involve a wide range of IT management that typically extend and apply to an entire organization or major components of an organization.
  • Performs needs analyses to define opportunities for new or improved business process solutions; consults with customers to identify and specify requirements; develops overall functional and systems requirements and specifications.
  • Manages an area of specialized systems software technology, such as database management and life cycle development systems, involving the design and development of applications and the management of information as a resource.
  • Provides technical advice and guidance to multiple agencies/organizations within the agency on matters relative to area(s) of specialty and on automated data processing technical policies and procedures in general.
