Defense Finance and Accounting Services (DFAS) mission is to lead the Department of Defense (DoD) in finance and accounting by ensuring the delivery of efficient, exceptional quality pay and financial information.

In addition to the Basic Competency Requirements listed above, one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade GS-11 in the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required.

Specialized experience is defined as performing assessments of systems and networks within the Network Environment or enclave and identifies where those systems/networks deviate from acceptable configurations, enclave policy, or local policy.

Measures effectiveness of defense-in-depth architecture against known vulnerabilities.

Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social).

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

You may qualify for consideration if meeting time-in grade, specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement.

  • Maintains knowledge of applicable cyber defense policies, regulations, and compliance documents specifically related to cyber defense auditing.
  • Applies concepts in real-world environment and maintains Vulnerability Management records aligned to agency policy.
  • Prepares audit reports that identify technical and procedural findings, and provides recommended remediation strategies/solutions.
  • Analyzes organization's cybersecurity policies and configurations and evaluates compliance with regulations with organizational directives.
  • Performs technical and non-technical risk and vulnerability assessments of relevant technology focus areas.
  • Recommends the selection of cost-effective security controls to mitigate risk (e.g., protection of information, systems and processes).
