THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.
This National Guard position is for a IT CYBERSECURITY SPECIALIST (INFOSEC), Position Description Number T5895000 and is part of the KS 184 Wing, National Guard.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education, and/or training that has provided a basic knowledge of data processing functions and general management principles that enabled the applicant to understand the stages required to automate a work process.
Experience may have been gained in work such as computer operator or assistant, computer sales representative, program analyst, or other positions that required the use or adaptation of computer programs and systems.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-11) level.
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Such experience includes: Knowledge of and skill in applying methods for evaluating, implementing, and disseminating Information Technology (IT) security tool and procedures; Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) Infrastructure; IT security certification and accreditation requirements; network operations and protocols; and computer forensics principles.
Develop, implement, and coordinating activities designed to ensure, protect, and restore IT systems, services, and capabilities; monitor an evaluate systems: compliance with IT security requirements; provide advice and guidance in implementing IT security policies and procedures in the development and operation of network systems; and ensure proper protection of evidence used in investigating computer crimes.
Information Assurance Certification is a condition of employment. This position includes information assurance (IA) work as a paramount duty requirement.
Per DoD 8570.01-M, the incumbent of this position must achieve the appropriate IA certification within six months of assignment of these duties.
A waiver of this six month requirement may be granted per DoD 8570.01-M, C3.2.4.2 or C3.2.4.3. Failure to receive the proper IA certification may result in removal from this position. Major Duties:
As an IT CYBERSECURITY SPECIALIST (INFOSEC), GS-2210-12, you will serve as Information System Security Officer (ISSO), ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of classified information systems, networks and data through the enhancement of Department of Defense (DoD) information systems security programs, policies, procedures and tools.
Enhancement of information systems security programs, procedures, and tools are specifically accomplished by conducting vulnerability assessments and ensuring all protection needs are met.
Perform other duties as assigned. This position is located in an Air National Guard (ANG) Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF).
