Full Job Description

This vacancy is for a GS-2210-13/14, IT Cybersecurity Specialist located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, SFLC BOD INFORMATION SERVICES BR in BALTIMORE, Maryland.

Basic Requirements: This position has a positive Education Requirement in addition to at least one year of Specialized Experience or substitution of education for experience or combination (if applicable) in order to be found minimally qualified.

You MUST meet the following requirements: EDUCATION: AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To qualify at the GS-13 grade level, applicants must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the federal sector.

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.

Examples include Integrating information systems security with other security disciplines; certifying systems or network accreditation; ensuring coordination and or collaboration on security activities; and ensuring proper protection of evidence used in investigating computer crimes.

OR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: To qualify at the GS-14 grade level, applicants must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 grade level in the federal sector.

You will serve as an IT Cybersecurity Specialist and be responsible for Security Controls Assessor (SCA), ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of Operational Technology through security programs, policies, procedures and tools by conducting vulnerability assessments and ensuring all protection needs are met.

Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team.

Typical work assignments include: Conducting risk and vulnerability assessments of Operational Technology to identify associated vulnerabilities, risks and protection needs.

Serving as a technical expert for Operational Technology (OT) security and information assurance policies, planning, programs, initiatives, assessment and authorization.

Providing advice and assistance regarding security aspects of processing, storage, retrieval, transmission, and access of classified and unclassified information.

Maintaining knowledge of applicable cyber defense policies, regulations, and compliance documents specifically related to cyber defense auditing.

Preparing audit reports that identify technical and procedural findings and provide recommended remediation strategies/solutions.

Making recommendations regarding selection of cost-effective security controls to mitigate risk.

Monitors and audits the schedule, cost, design, analysis, operational performance and/or internal security procedures of national security systems (NSS) and respective classified information, critical infrastructure, mission essential systems (MES), high value assets (HVA) or other USCG information systems.

Mandatory training is required which must be successfully completed and other training may occur as necessary for success in the position.
