This job is for an IT professional who builds and manages automated systems to make investigations more efficient and secure at a state agency focused on reviewing police use-of-force incidents.
The role involves creating digital workflows, connecting different software tools, and ensuring everything handles sensitive data safely.
It's a good fit for someone with experience in tech automation who wants to support public trust in law enforcement through reliable technology.

Who We Are
In response to deaths resulting from encounters with law enforcement and the community’s demand for change, the Washington State Legislature created a new, first-of-its-kind agency: the Office of Independent Investigations (OII).
This new agency was formed in 2021 and operates under the requirements of the law, in which investigations involving the use of deadly force must be truly independent of the involved law enforcement agency.
Our mission is to conduct fair, thorough, transparent, and competent investigations of incidents involving the use of deadly force.
This approach to investigations removes conflicts of interest, improves accountability and transparency, and renews the public’s confidence.
Through these efforts, we strengthen relationships between law enforcement and the community, build public trust, and promote effective policing.
Reporting to the Data and Technology Manager, the IT Automation Engineer supports the mission of OII by designing, implementing, and maintaining automated workflows and secure system integrations that improve the efficiency, reliability, and interoperability of the agency’s digital platforms.
This role develops automation using Microsoft Power Platform, manages workflow orchestration, and maintains integrations between cloud services, content management systems, and specialized investigative technology platforms.
The position is critical to enabling secure information exchange, modernizing agency operations, and ensuring that systems operate reliably and in compliance with CJIS and other state and federal data security requirements.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Workflow Automation Development & Platform Administration
Cloud Integration & Data Pipeline Management
Content & Document Management Systems
Third-Party Platform Integration & Administration
System Monitoring, Support & Continuous Improvement
