This job involves leading a small team to install, repair, and maintain irrigation systems in city parks, ensuring everything runs smoothly and safely.
You'll plan daily tasks, inspect sites, and handle hands-on work like fixing pipes and pumps when needed.

Education and Experience: High School Diploma, GED, or higher, and one (1) year of irrigation system installation and maintenance work experience.
Licenses and Certificates: Valid Texas Class "C" Driver's License or equivalent from another state by the date of appointment.
Texas Commission on Environmental Quality Irrigation Technician License is required within six (6) months of the date of hire. Some positions require a Backflow Prevention Tester Certification.
Special Requirements: Positions requiring a CDL or positions of a safety sensitive are subject to drug and alcohol testing in accordance with federal regulations.
Under general supervision, as a working supervisor, plan, schedule, and oversee subordinate semi-skilled or unskilled workers in the installation, troubleshooting and maintenance of irrigation equipment, irrigation systems, and small pumps.
Plan, schedule and oversee daily irrigation system maintenance work. Involves: Assign repair and related tasks to staff.
Perform regular site and irrigation system inspections and oversee all work in progress to ensure quality, timeliness, and safety.
Plan, select, and requisition necessary equipment and related supplies. Maintain files and records related to projects, schedules, and other areas.
Perform preventative maintenance and repair of all assigned equipment. Maintain cleanliness of tools, equipment, and work areas. Oversee and coordinate the work of contractors as necessary.
Perform a variety of semi-skilled tasks in the installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of irrigation equipment, irrigation systems, and small pumps.
Involves: Assist in the installation, troubleshooting and maintenance of simple and moderately complex irrigation systems including backflow devices.
Read diagrams and blueprints to lay out and locate irrigation valves, timers, and wiring. Install irrigation timers, irrigation piping, and valves.
Test completed irrigation systems for proper functioning of valves and timers. Locate, excavate, and repair or replace damaged or malfunctioning equipment.
Restock the van to ensure the supply of necessary parts and equipment.
Supervise a small crew in performing maintenance tasks. Involves: Assign, review, and monitor work completed. Guide task performance. Train and develop employees. Prepare employees' performance appraisals. Recommend vacation approval and other personnel actions.
Perform related duties as required. Involves: Routinely assist or participate in performing maintenance and repair work as necessary.
Perform duties of supervisor or coworkers as necessary to ensure continuity of operations during absences. Interact with supervisors, contractors, vendors, and coworkers.
Answer questions and provide accurate information to inquiries. Maintain records of completed work.
