This entry-level role with the U.S. Secret Service involves researching and organizing data to support investigations into financial crimes, cyber threats, and protecting important people.

To be considered qualified for this position you must meet the following qualification requirements for the respective grade level in which you are applying.
You qualify for the GS-07 level (starting salary $50,460.00) if you possess one of the following: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level performing duties such as: Performing basic administrative support using databases, software or systems to maintain and/or organizes investigative case data.
Assisting in gathering various types of data from a variety of sources to develop routine reports. Assisting in maintaining and developing profiles used in criminal investigations.
OR One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates that knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Superior Academic Achievement.
To be creditable under this provision, Superior Academic Achievement must have been gained in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled, such as that identified in Education above.
Superior Academic Achievement is based on: (1) Classing Standing - Applicants must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses, OR (2) Grade-Point Average (G.P.A.) - Applicants must have a grade-point average of either (a) 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B" or better) as recorded on your official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or a computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or (b) 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B+" or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of curriculum.; OR (3) Honor Society Membership - Applicants may be considered eligible based on membership in one of the approved national scholastic honor societies listed by the Association of College Honor Societies (https://www.achsnatl.org/).
OR A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position if the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.
To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12.
Then, divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
You qualify for the GS-09 level (starting salary $61,722.00) if you possess one of the following: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level performing duties such as: Assisting in determining leads for further research and analysis in criminal investigations.
Conducting research and database searches from variety of sources. Assisting with processing and evaluating analytical assignments and/or research projects in support of criminal investigations.
OR Master's or equivalent graduate degree, LL.B., or J.D.
or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
OR A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position if the computed percentage of the requirement is at least 100%.
To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18.
Add the two percentages Time-in-Grade Requirements: Under competitive merit promotion procedures, any individual who is currently holding, or who has held within the previous 52 weeks, a General Schedule position under a non-temporary appointment in the competitive or excepted service, must meet "time-in-grade" requirements (have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade of the grade for which you are applying).
Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to current competitive service employees applying for a Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
NOTE: All current or former Federal employees must provide a copy of their SF-50, "Notice of Personnel Action" that indicates proof of status and time-in-grade eligibility.
The SF-50 must include your position, title, series, grade, step, tenure (1 or 2), and type of service (Competitive or Excepted). You may need to submit more than one SF-50 to comply.

Major Duties:
The selectee will serve as an Investigative Analyst in the Office of Field Operations, Memphis Field Office.
Typical work assignments include: Conducting analysis of suspected criminal activities; developing target packets/profiles; and utilizing systems to perform protective intelligence research and criminal analysis.
Identifying, analyzing, and extracting pertinent information from the investigative cases. Reviewing and evaluating data, material, and documents to develop leads and case profiles.
Participating as an active member on anti-crime task forces, providing criminal research and analytical assistance pertaining to on-going investigations.
Drafting written documents and presenting research to applicable stakeholders and maintains ongoing collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
