Full Job Description

Applications will be considered from residents and non-residents of Colorado.

Salary: $25/hr

This internship is a paid temporary part-time - up to full-time position (25 -40 hours/week)

This position limited to a maximum of 9 months from the date of hire.

In addition to being a fantastic place to work, CDOT offers all temporary employees paid sick leave. Temporary employees accrue one hour of sick leave for every 30 hours worked, capped at 48 hours.

Requirements

Major Duties and Responsibilities include the following but not limited to:

  • Cataloging materials for the library including:
    • Inputting data about materials into the electronic catalog (EOS) and OnBase to ensure users can locate books, serials, manuals, or other documents.
    • Organizing materials according to the highest priority.
    • Organizing large backlogs of materials
    • .Preparing bibliographic and item records for monographs, journals, and other library material
  • Patron Services - focused customer service that includes:
    • Face-to-face interactions at the Library’s Reference Desk (when we are not remote)
    • Providing virtual interactions with clients
    • Monitoring and providing timely responses via the Library’s internal communication channels to help manage project in-take
    • Providing library reference services for locating information and documents utilizing the appropriate technology and resources
    • Shelving materials, maintaining the collection organization, and maintaining orderliness of public areas
    • Collaborating with other staff to resolve circulation-related issues as needed and assisting in creating a positive environment
  • Special Projects:
    • Assist with the creation of a Special Archive Digitization of print reports
    • Assist with finding materials to digitize and add to the Special Archive
  • Outreach:
    • Assist with library marketing i.e., Libguides, Daily Broadcast, and library presentations to groups
    • Develop, design, and edit the CDOT library website
  • Other duties as assigned.


Work Environment:

  • This position is based at CDOT's Headquarters Office in Denver.
  • Expected work schedule is between Monday and Friday.
  • It is anticipated that this position will work 25-40 hours per week.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates must be:

  • Any college student enrolled in an accredited college or university seeking a Masters or Ph.D. degree in Library and Information Science. (A copy of your transcript must be attached to your online application. See below)

OR

  • A recent college graduate. Recently graduated means the individual should have attended an accredited college or university and have graduated with a Masters or Ph.D. degree in Library and Information Science. (A copy of your transcript must be attached to your online application. See below)

OR

  • A certified participant in the Colorado Refugee Program.

  • Experience with ONBase is a plus;
  • Strong cataloging skills a plus.
