Full Job Description

This position is located at Departmental Offices,International Affairs.

As an International Economist, you will provide a wide range of professional economic analysis within the Office of International Affairs at the critical sensitive security level.

(This experience could be gained through a variety of professional experiences and be reflected via a wide range of tasks and activities.

We are looking for experience such as, but not limited to: drafting research reports about the subject areas; drafting regular and routine market or news updates/digests; reviewing policy memos, white papers, or other written material related to the above broad international policy subject areas and summarizing in written or oral format; analysis of financial or budget documents; drafting external communication materials including reports, posts, newsletters, etc.

Only graduate level education in excess of the first 36 semester hours (54 quarter hours) may be combined to be considered for qualifying education.

The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.

The following are the duties of this position at the GS-14.

If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.

Prepare international economic background and briefing material for senior executive branch officials to use in intergovernmental and international meetings.

Coordinate briefing material and negotiating positions with other offices and agencies in the executive branch to ensure accuracy, currency, coherence, and completeness.

Analyze international economic and monetary issues and policy recommendations at the request of senior Treasury officials for intended and unintended economic effects.

Participate in substantive aspects of formulating and implementing Department of the Treasury and U.S. Government policies pertaining to international economic organizations.

Ensure that materials prepared by others satisfy the quality protocols and requirements expected of high-level international economic briefings.
