Job Description

Summary

This job involves working on advanced navigation and avionics systems for military aircraft, focusing on GPS and inertial navigation technologies to ensure pilots have accurate positioning and timing data for safe flights.

You'll research, develop, test, and support these electronic systems while balancing performance, cost, and deadlines.

Key Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-11 level in engineering or operations research
  • In-depth knowledge of GPS constellation structure and its use in navigation for position, velocity, altitude, and timing
  • Understanding of Inertial Navigation Systems (INS) and various navigation solutions
  • Expertise in Kalman Filters, including scented, unscented, tightly coupled, and loosely coupled variants
  • Familiarity with military aircraft avionics architectures, including hardware (WRAs), software, data buses, and ability to read schematics
  • Experience reviewing CDRLs (Contract Data Requirements Lists) and tracing them back to requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (general, electrical, electronics, or aerospace) or operations research from an accredited institution

Full Job Description

YOU WILL SERVE AS AN INTERDISCIPLINARY GENERAL/ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONICS/AEROSPACE ENGINEER/OPERATIONS RESEARCH ANALYST in the MISSION SYSTEM GROUP, AVIONICS ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT, CORE AVIONICS ENGINEERING DIVISION, POSITION, NAVIGATION AND TIMEING OF NAVAIRWARCENAC DIV.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional GENERAL/ELECTRICAL/ELECTRONIC/AEROSPACE ENGINEER/OPERATIONS RESEARCH ANALYST performing the following duties; 1) Knowledge of GPS: Understands the structure of the GPS constellation; 2) Understands how Position, Velocity, Altitude and Timing are used for Navigation; 3) Knowledge of INS: Understands different types of navigation solutions; 4) Understands the use of Kalman Filters and their roles in the navigation solution: 5) Knowledge of Scented and Unscented, Tightly and loosely coupled Kalman Filters; 6) Knowledge of Military aircraft avionics architectures to include Hardware (WRAs), Software and Data Bus architectures (Must be able to read and understand schematics); 7) Experience in reviewing and understanding CDRLS and being able to perform traces back to requirements.
