Summary

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position: This is a Interdisciplinary (Engineer/Architect) GS-08XX-12 position for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Southwestern Division, Tulsa District, Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Preparing design drawings and/or specifications for infrastructure projects; AND 2) Performing technical reviews of architectural designs to ensure compliance with established project criteria; AND 3) Conducting site investigations to gather design data and document existing field conditions for proposed or existing projects.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Note: Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.

For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

In addition to meeting the specialized experience requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the basic education requirement listed below: Major Duties:

  • Serve as a technical manager for all assigned major military design projects in the District including both Air Force and Army.
  • Manage and oversee the development of general and detailed drawings, design analyses, computations and calculations, and technical specifications for assigned military design projects.
  • Perform engineering and design technical review of all major military designs provided by Architect-Engineer firms under contract to the District.
  • Review selected construction contract submittals identified as requiring special engineering expertise or extensions of design.
  • Participate and is actively involved in life cycle project management.
  • Visit the sites of proposed or existing projects to gather and/or interpret design data, assist in the interpretation of plans and specifications and, when requested, to recommend revisions to design documents to accommodate changed field conditions.
