Job Description

Summary

This job involves leading research on how things like impacts, sounds, or electromagnetic waves affect the human body, especially in the context of non-lethal weapons for the U.S. Marine Corps.

The role requires advising on science and technology projects, staying current with advancements in biology and physics, and working with experts from government, universities, and industry.

Key Requirements

  • At least one year of specialized experience at GS-12 level or equivalent, applying scientific principles to research human responses to external stimuli like kinetic, acoustic, or electromagnetic effects
  • Expertise in Human Effects Science and Technology, including oversight of Research, Development, Testing, and Engineering (RDTE) projects
  • Knowledge of Non-Lethal Weapons (NLW) and advancements in biological, physical, and biomedical fields
  • Ability to conduct market surveys, review proposals, and engage with industry and academia
  • Skills in providing scientific expertise for documents, reviewing technical inputs, and leading or participating in meetings with research laboratories
  • Qualifications in one of the following series: General Natural Resources Management and Biological Sciences (0401), Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering (0858), or General Physical Science (1301)

  • You will serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for Human Effects Science and Technology, overseeing and advising Research, Development, Testing, and Engineering (RDTE) projects.
  • You will stay up to date in Human Effects(HE) and Non-Lethal Weapons(NLW), including pertinent biological, physical, and biomedical advancements, and apply this knowledge to improve performance and effectiveness.
  • You will conduct market surveys, review proposals, and engage with industry and academia as needed or directed.
  • You will provide scientific subject matter expertise to key documents as required and review and provide input on technical documents.
  • You will lead or participate in branch meetings and engage with governmental, academic, and private research laboratories.
