Job Description

Summary

This role involves coordinating prevention programs in the Navy to stop harmful behaviors like suicide, sexual assault, substance abuse, and violence by identifying risks, developing targeted strategies, and evaluating their effectiveness.

It supports military families and units in staying ready and healthy through education, awareness, and data-driven improvements.

Full Job Description

You will serve as a INTEGRATED PREVENTION COORDINATOR in the COMMANDER, NAVY INSTALLATIONS COMMAND (CNIC), FAMILY READINESS DIVISION (N9), FLEET AND FAMILY SUPPORT (FFSP) (N91) of NB CORONADO.

In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties: 1) Knowledge of social sciences, integrated primary prevention, applicable policy; 2) knowledge of and skill in applying prevention methods and techniques in order to evaluate, consult, coordinate, and advise on prevention program activities towards the prevention of destructive or problematic behaviors (i.e.

suicide, sexual harassment/assault, substance misuse, family/interpersonal/workplace violence); 3) Knowledge of and skill in applying program management methods and techniques, and knowledge of command prevention programs, principles, practices, policies, laws, regulations, and methodologies to coordinate and advise on prevention program activities; 4) Knowledge of and skill in applying professional verbal communication methods and techniques to collaborate with external and internal personnel and leadership at various echelons; 5) Knowledge of and skill in applying program management processes to identify program needs, trends, and performance; evaluate program effectiveness; and recommend process improvements; 6) Knowledge of data collection and program evaluation and measurement techniques and processes to conduct prevention research.

  • You will identify existing or potential risk and protective factors that could lead to problematic/destructive behaviors and recommend preventive measures that the installation, command, or unit can take to address risk and protective factors.
  • You will develop population-based and/or targeted prevention efforts to support the unique needs of the installation, command, and/or unit level.
  • You will assist with program evaluation using analytical techniques and statistical methods to determine program impacts on critical readiness outcomes.
  • You will serve as an installation-based Integrated Prevention Coordinator and is a recognized authority in implementing prevention efforts.
  • You will give routine presentations to leadership on command prevention efforts and impact.
  • You will develop and implement strategies to maintain program visibility and increase awareness at all levels to foster workforce readiness and wellness.
