Base salary range: $147,649 - $221,900

Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).
This job involves maintaining, repairing, and modifying precision instruments in a naval facility, ensuring they are in top condition for use in quality assurance and testing.
Workers clean, inspect, and fix mechanical parts using specialized tools, while collaborating with teams to handle multiple tasks efficiently.

You will serve as an INSTRUMENT MECHANIC in the Metals Laboratory Branch (Code 1430.2) Quality Assurance Division (Code 1430) in the Naval Foundry and Propeller Center (Code 1400) (NFPC) located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania a detachment of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.
Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, sketches, diagrams.
Experience working within the team and with outside codes in order to identify issues in a timely manner. Experience handling multiple tasks concurrently with minimal oversight.
Experience applying the principles and methods of the machinist trade at the Journeyman level or similar.
Experience understanding and maintaining the knowledge of the Automated Tool Control Symm (ATCS} procedures for Issuing and returning tools and equipment for Inventory control.
