Requirements

As an Infection Preventionist Registered Nurse (IPRN), you will coordinate infection prevention and control program (IPCP) activities to prevent, detect, and mitigate communicable diseases and infections in a Commonwealth operated nursing home.

You will develop, implement, and evaluate policies and procedures that follow recognized standards for preventing, identifying, and controlling infectious diseases.

You will also conduct outbreak investigations, monitor resident health, and collaborate with facility staff to ensure quality resident care.

This role requires thorough knowledge of disease processes, pathology, and symptoms as well as the ability to implement effective infectious agent surveillance systems.

In addition, you will assist with the direct delivery of quality nursing care as needed, monitor compliance with IPCP requirements, and identify areas of deficiency, and develop plans to educate staff on proper infection control procedures and processes.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Your schedule may change based on operational needs.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of professional nursing experience in a healthcare facility.


Special Requirements:

  • You must be in possession of an Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) Certificate of Mastery issued by the National Association of Directors of Nursing Administration in Long Term Care (NADONALTC), possession of an active Certified in Infection Control (CIC) certification as issued by the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CBIC), or possession of an active Long-Term Care Certification in Infection Prevention (LTC-CIP) certification as issued by the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CBIC).
  • You must possess active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania.
  • All employees possessing an active temporary practice permit must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.


Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.


Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and a drug screening.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
