Base salary range: $62,107 - $80,737
Typical requirements: 1 year specialized experience at GS-10. Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 years graduate study.
Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).
This job involves inspecting military facilities to identify and address health risks from chemicals, noise, and other workplace hazards, then recommending ways to fix them and reporting findings to leaders and workers.
It's a temporary role up to 8 years at a medical center in North Carolina.
A good fit would be someone with a science or engineering background who enjoys fieldwork, analysis, and helping keep people safe in high-stakes environments.
About the Position: This position is located with Army Medical Center Womack, Preventive Medicine, Fort Bragg, NC. This position is Term Not to Exceed 3 years with the possibility of annual extensions.
It is time limited and may be extended up to a maximum of 8 years.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).
You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Basic Requirement- Degree: Bachelor's or graduate (or higher level) degree in industrial hygiene, occupational health sciences, occupational and environmental health, toxicology, safety sciences, or related science.
The education must be accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
OR Related Degree: Bachelor's degree in a branch of engineering, physical science, or life science that included 12 semester hours in chemistry, including organic chemistry, and 18 additional semester hours of courses in any combination of chemistry, physics, engineering, health physics, environmental health, biostatistics, biology, physiology, toxicology, epidemiology, or industrial hygiene.
The education must be accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
For engineering degrees to be acceptable, the curriculum must be in a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineering curriculum.
OR Certification from the American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH).
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting with: conducting industrial hygiene surveys of assigned areas to determine the presence of potentially harmful chemical, physical, and/or biological hazards; preparing standard operating procedures, technical papers, bulletins, or guides; AND providing recommendations for elimination and/or mitigation of hazards found during surveys.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.
