Full Job Description

This position is located in the Washington Headquarters Services (WHS), Human Resources Directorate (HRD), Senior Executive Management Office (SEMO).

The employee provides human resources assistant recruitment and placement support for a variety of executive and political personnel programs.

In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below.

Time in Grade: For entry at the GS-06 level, status applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-05 or higher grade in the Federal Service.

You may qualify at the GS-06 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector) that demonstrates your ability in: 1) providing administrative or technical support to a Human Resources (HR) office including updating and verifying employment or position data or records in an automated Human Resources (HR) system; 2) assessing basic system or procedural issues related to the processing of a variety of personnel actions or maintenance of records; 3) applying problem-solving skills in order to assess and resolve customer inquiries regarding basic HR processes or procedures.

Time in Grade: For entry at the GS-07 level, status applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-06 or higher grade in the Federal Service.

You may qualify at the GS-07 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector) that demonstrates your ability in: 1) interpreting and applying guidance using experience, sound judgment, and logical analysis; 2) making decisions and resolving problems or discrepancies based on knowledge of processing rules, regulations and procedures; 3) accurately processing of employment and pay actions as well as provide information and guidance to applicants, employees and administrative office staffs.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Incumbent typical work assignments may include the following: Assists Human Resources (HR) Specialists in writing and posting job announcements. Completing and coordinating required appointment forms.

Answers questions from applicants and employees on such matters as application procedures, rating processes, status of recruitment. Prepares and proofs a variety of outgoing correspondence.

Advises managers and administrative employees on appropriate staffing methods for recruitment actions.
