This job involves leading a team of housekeeping staff at a Veterans Health Administration center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, by scheduling tasks, ensuring equipment and supplies are ready, training new hires, and monitoring performance to keep the facility clean and safe.
It's a full-time supervisory role with evening shifts from 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm, where you might also pitch in with cleaning during busy times.

The incumbent functions as a Housekeeping Aid Supervisor within the Cape Girardeau HCC and has full supervisory responsibility for control over work situations and subordinates.
This includes responsibility for developing work schedules both short and long range tasks for their team while ensuring materials/equipment needed to perform planned tasks is available and equipment is functional.

SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the on-line questionnaire.
Those applicants who appear to possess at least the minimal acceptable qualification requirement are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated.

Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.

Major Duties:
Major Duties of position: Supervises and motivates employees to function as an effective work unit explaining proper utilization of equipment, chemicals, supplies, and methodology to promote efficient and economical operations.
Orientates new employees into the section; ensuring they attend mandatory training. Maintains time and leave for staff, quality and quantity work records.
Monitors performance and behavior and takes appropriate action to correct problems with either as dictated by facility policy without their supervisor's intervention.
Insures availability of material and equipment required to accomplish assignments in a proper manner.
Performs Housekeeping duties during periods of emergency, or when there is an acute shortage of personnel. Reviews work in progress and/or upon completion.
Participates in staff meetings with assigned personnel, discusses problem, areas, safety, training, facility policy changes in procedures, and general information.
Monitors performance standards, maintains supervisory notes, and initiates formal appraisals of all employees under their supervision.
Possess computer skills necessary to utilize supervisory application programs, with time and attendance records.

The work requires the occasional use of heavy powered cleaning equipment (e.g., wall washers, industrial type buffers) weighing over 50 pounds.
The duties necessitate considerable dexterity, hand, foot, and eye coordination, and concentration as well as visual acuity to see dirt, dust and debris.
