Base salary range: $37,764 - $49,094
Typical requirements: 1 year specialized experience at GS-5. Bachelor's degree + some experience.
Note: Actual salary includes locality pay (15-40%+ depending on location).
This job involves preparing and examining human tissue samples from biopsies, surgeries, and autopsies to help diagnose diseases in a military hospital setting.

About the Position: This position is located at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation.
Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. Non-Federal work experience may be creditable for leave purposes.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes Anatomical pathology technician work in (a) cutting and staining very thin sections of human tissue specimens for microscopic examination; and/or in (b) testing and examining body fluids, etc.
for abnormalities in cell structure, depending upon the requirements of the position to be filled.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).
OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Pathology or Histopathology.
OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.
To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18.
