Full Job Description
Operates 5-yard standard dump truck, and flatbed truck for hauling materials such as asphalt, limestone, dirt, soil, cement, pipe, construction materials and debris. Operates small equipment such as dump truck, brine sprayer, and snowplow in conjunction with highway and bridge maintenance operations. Performs manual labor in building catch basins, pouring concrete for curbs and raised median, laying pipes for driveways and other drainage structures, repairing shoulders, clearing right-of-ways, and repairing bridges. Assists with placement of traffic control devices to properly set up maintenance work zones. Serves as a flagger to safely direct and control traffic in maintenance work zones. Conducts and documents pre-trip equipment/vehicle inspection in accordance with the department's most current rules, policies and procedures for fleet safety. Operates standard dump truck with snowplow attachment and sand spreader to remove snow and ice from highways and bridges and be available for 12-hour shifts. Operates and maintains small equipment, power tools, and hand tools to perform a variety of highway and bridge maintenance activities. Performs other related job duties as requested or assigned by supervisor.

There are no minimum training or experience requirements for this classification. Necessary Special Requirement: A valid motor vehicle operator’s license is required upon entry to the position. Requires attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position.
The physical demands for the essential functions involves bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and grasping. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Walking for extended periods, treading rough terrain, working in close proximity to motoring traffic, and in natural environmental hazards. May be required to work outside normal scheduled work week; especially during inclement weather.
