The West Virginia Tax Division is seeking a highly motivated and organized candidate to support business technical processes as a Help Desk Analyst 1 in its Research Division.

Under general supervision, at the full-performance level, examples of duties to be performed include but are not limited to:

  • Provide support in determining, analyzing and resolving business process problems regarding the agency's tax software, referring more complex issues to higher-level technical staff.
  • Review and log correspondence related to potential system issues.
  • Provide direct assistance and coordinate solutions between end users of tax-specific software and applications and technical staff via electronic methods or in person.
  • Assist with user testing of new program applications as well as existing configuration upgrades and production changes.
  • Communicate effectively with a variety of end users, from novice system users to experienced data processing professionals. The chosen candidate must have or gain familiarity with the applications and systems supported.
  • Provides support to end users, management, and other divisions as required.

Performs related work as required. Employment requires a fingerprint-based criminal-background check to be provided at the West Virginia Tax Division’s expense.

Failing to initiate the process or cooperate with this process, providing false or incomplete information, or discovery of disqualifying information will result in denial of, or dismissal from, employment or denial of transfer irrespective of when discovered.

The chosen applicant will also be subject to a tax compliance check.

Qualifications

Training: Graduation from a standard high school or the equivalent.

Experience:Three years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience working with personal computers. Must have a working knowledge of at least two of the supported software products.
Substitution: Twelve semester hours in computer science and one year of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience working with personal computers and working knowledge of at least two of the supported software products may substitute for the required experience.
