Full Job Description
Under direction, is responsible for the operations of the helicopter detail maintenance. Schedules and oversees the repair, maintenance, and inspections of the San Antonio Police Department's helicopter fleet to ensure air worthiness. Ensures compliance with all Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations. Exercises direct supervision over assigned staff.

Requirements
- Manages all aircraft scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and inspections in accordance with the manufacturers' and FAA regulatory standards.
- Supervises, trains and evaluates assigned employees.
- Coordinates inspections and modifications with FAA inspectors, and prepares and documents FAA and manufacturers' required forms and maintenance records.
- Responsible for the integrity of aircraft parts requisitions, inventory, and repairable parts tracking, and ensures the serviceability of all special tools, hanger, and ground support equipment.
- Manages the electronic inventory, maintenance, and budgetary software to ensure a continuous and up to the minute analysis of the helicopter fleet.
- Informs pilots and superiors of all aircraft readiness, availability and air worthiness on a daily basis.
- Manages and monitors the maintenance operating budget and oversees the purchase of parts, supplies, tools, and equipment.
- Stays abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of aircraft maintenance and repair.
- Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent (recognized by the Texas Education Agency or a regional accrediting agency).
- Five (5) years' experience in helicopter airframe and power plant maintenance, including one (1) year of supervisory experience.
Applicants for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility.
Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following will result in being disqualified for this position: Felony Convictions, Felony Deferred Adjudication, Class A & B Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication, Class B Misdemeanor Convictions, an Open Arrest for Any Criminal Offense (Felony or Misdemeanor), and Family Violence Convictions.
- Valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License.
- Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Power Plant License.
- Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Aircraft and Inspection License.
Preferred Qualifications- Completion of Airbus Helicopter H125 (AS350B3e) Airframe Field Maintenance course.
- Completion of Safran Helicopter Engines ARRIEL 2D Engine Maintenance course.
- Experience with Airbus Helicopter EC120B.
- Experience with Safran Helicopter Engine ARRIUS 2F.

One year of full-time experience is defined as 30 or more hours worked per week for 12 months.
