This job involves acting as an independent judge-like figure who holds hearings to decide on violations in probation, parole, and pardon programs, making fair decisions based on laws, evidence, and best practices.
The role requires traveling across a large district in South Carolina and working irregular hours.
It's a good fit for experienced professionals in corrections or social services who have a strong sense of justice and can handle tough decisions.
A bachelor's degree and experience in probation, parole, corrections, social services, or unemployment insurance as appropriate for the position. C – 1 Certification by the Law Enforcement Training Council in accordance with 23-23-40 of the Code of Laws of South Carolina 1976.
A Bachelor’s degree and seven (7) years of probation, parole or related experience with at least 15 semester hours in social or behavioral science courses; or a Master’s degree and five (5) years of probation, parole, or related experience.
Willing to achieve NAHO certification through the National Hearings Officers Association.
