The Department of Transportation is actively looking to appoint a Hearing Officer in Dauphin County, a position that entails serving as the presiding authority during various proceedings. This role involves overseeing hearings, drafting legal opinions, making determinations, and carrying out related responsibilities. As the presiding officer, you will be responsible for deciding who may participate in the hearings and to what extent, as well as for admitting evidence into the official record or rejecting submitted documents and oral testimonies. Additionally, you will issue decisions and orders that will stand as final unless they are appealed. This position represents a management-level legal support role within the Office of Chief Counsel, with all activities subject to oversight and evaluation by the Executive Deputy Chief Counsel and the Administrative Officer. Requirements

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time with required in office days for training and meetings.
In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.
If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- A Juris Doctor degree from an American Bar Association accredited law school; or
- Three years of professional experience in legal research and analysis, and a bachelor’s degree; or
- Five years of legal research and analysis experience including three years at the professional level, and an associate’s degree; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes two years of professional experience in legal research and analysis.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
Additional Requirement:- You must possess good interpersonal skills: including active listening, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving.
