Full Job Description

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION.

This National Guard position is for a HEALTH TECHNICIAN (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D1724000 and is part of the IL 182 AW, National Guard.

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: The areas of consideration for this position, Title 32 Excepted Service (32 U.S.

Code § 709), will be in the following manner and sequence: The FIRST area of consideration for this position will be all excepted permanent and indefinite temporary technicians within the ILNG.

The SECOND area of consideration will be all current Federal Employees. The THIRD area of consideration will be all Federal re-employment eligible.

The FOURTH area of consideration will be applicants willing to become T32 Dual Status Technicians and gain ILNG membership. The FIFTH area of consideration will be U.S. Citizens.

Military Grades: Minimum rank requirement A1C, may not exceed rank of MSgt.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-08 Level - MUST possess the specialized experience, education or training which includes at least 1 year at the lower level GS-07, that provides a working knowledge of missions, organizations, programs and requirements of health care, aerospace and operational delivery systems; experience analyzing and recommending solutions to complicated problems; experience developing and implementing various policies and procedures used in the guard medical programs; experience involving various administrative areas such as medical resources; personnel and public relations within a medical activity.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).

As a HEALTH TECHNICIAN (TITLE 32), GS-0640-8, you will serve as the functional expert for issues pertaining to Aerospace Medicine and Force Health Management programs.

Manage essential programs, which impact individual medical readiness (IMR) and personnel fitness for continued worldwide deployability.

The position occupant serves as a member of or an advisor to, management boards and committees as well as Wing leadership regarding Force Health Management and Aerospace Medicine.

Major Duties - This is NOT an all-inclusive list: Develop plans, procedures, goals and objectives in support of the Aerospace Medicine and Force Health Management Programs using an extensive knowledge of Department of Defense(DOD), Occupational Safety Health Administration (OSHA), United States Air Force (USAF) and Air National Guard (ANG) directives, policies and standards.

Advise and make recommendations to senior officials on force health issues related to physical exams, standards and flight medicine activities to ensure compliance.

Determines requirements, requests funding and administers accounts for procurement of supplies, equipment, and medical assessment in support of the physical exam process, flight medicine activities and related programs.

Implement and maintain the information management systems utilized for aerospace medicine and force health protection programs.

Identify reports, formulate and recommend solutions to command personnel for resolution of compliance and delinquency trends and patterns which could negatively impact medical readiness.

Edit, review and validate physical examinations to determine qualifications for initial or continued military service.

Provide technical medical assistance to medical inquiries and respond to inquiries by researching, compiling information, generating response and providing information through written correspondence, telephone, electronic or in-person response.

Prepare, revoke, amend, reproduce, and distribute logs and maintain orders for all Medical Group personnel.
