About the Position: The position is located at Defense Health Agency Indo-Pacific Naval Health Clinic Hawaii- Pearl Harbor/Honolulu Hawaii.

The incumbent will serve as a Health Technician in Occupational Health for a medical treatment facility (MTF). This is a Direct Hire Solicitation. Advance in hire MAY be authorized.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting a variety of basic health assessments such as performing medical tests and screenings such as audiometric, vision, pulmonary, and electrocardiograms; maintaining accurate health records, scheduling appointments and updating information in medical databases.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Medical Assisting, Health Information Technology, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Nuclear Medicine Technology, Respiratory Therapy.

(Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9.

Add the two percentages. Major Duties:

  • Receive visitors and telephone calls to facility.
  • Obtain, review, and update patient medical records prior to appointment.
  • Prepare correspondence and summaries of medical records to a variety of requests.
  • Perform a variety of specialized tasks involving medical readiness and physical exam activities.
  • Utilize medical software to schedule appointments.
