Summary

This job involves working in a military clinic in Japan to screen patients for occupational health issues, perform basic medical tests like checking vital signs or vision, and handle patient records and scheduling.

About the Position: This position is located in the Occupational Medicine department of the U.S. Naval Branch Health Clinic, Atsugi, Japan.

Incumbent is responsible for providing comprehensive occupational health services to all eligible beneficiaries in the area of responsibility of the clinic.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing medical screenings such as vision tests or taking vitals, utilizing automated medical record systems, and communicating medical and appointment information with patients and healthcare providers.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position.

OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18.

Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).

Major Duties:

  • Provide patient screening to obtain medical and occupational history.
  • Perform various screenings, such as vision, vital signs, spirometry, audiometry, and electrocardiograms (EKGs).
  • Maintain medical records in accordance with applicable directives.
  • Review medical records and tests to provide accurate counseling to patients regarding their results.
  • Facilitate the safe and effective operation of medical equipment and contributes to a safe working environment.
  • Provide administrative support such as patient scheduling and coordination of physical exams.
