About the Position: Serves as a Health Technician (Chiropractic) of a Medical Treatment Facility (MTF). Incumbent will provide technical chiropractic work and administrative support.

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) taking patient vital signs to record them in patient's record; 2) assisting with chiropractic treatments/procedures for patients such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation, heat, cold, hydrotherapy, and other procedures; 3) coordinating the flow of patients from waiting area to provider within a timely manner; 4) confirming patient appointments to include coordination of patient appointments with other providers; 5) providing patients with basic information on nutrition, ergonomics, proper posture, and exercise; 6) utilizing automated healthcare systems to update patient medical histories.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

OR Education: Four-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with a major study or at least 24 semester hours in subjects directly related to the position, such as, Chiropractic Technology or Chiropractic Technician.

(Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60.

  • Initiate patient intake to include taking and recording vital signs, assembling a new patient record, and assisting patients in completion of questionnaires and/or other documentation as requested by the treating chiropractor.
  • Perform procedures such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation, heat, cold, and/or hydrotherapy with instruction from the chiropractor.
  • Maintain clinic supply levels for treatment items, linens, and office supplies.
  • Request patient medical records, including x-rays and test results, from appropriate clinics.
  • Utilize automated healthcare systems for tracking patient healthcare data.
  • Receive telephone calls, patients, and visitors of the medical facility.
  • Clean exam rooms after each patient has been seen by chiropractor.
