About the Position: Serves as a Health System Specialist responsible for independent examination and reporting of patient care delivery and quality assurance of Product Line Teams for the Womack Army Medical Center (WAMC).

This is a Direct Hire Solicitation Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social).

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Specialized Experience: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service which includes evaluating patient care delivery systems to ensure compliance with The Joint Commission and regulatory standards.

Conducted medical record reviews, identified adverse patient occurrences, analyzed data trends, and recommended corrective actions.

Performed utilization review, and prepared statistical and quality assurance reports.

Assessed Product Line Team services, conducted inspections, investigated deficiencies, and ensured documentation accuracy using computer systems and databases.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration.

OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12.

Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. Major Duties:

  • Develop data elements for monitoring evaluation of health care provided including charts and medical documents.
  • Research, identify, analyze and record problem areas within the patient care delivery system.
  • Examine patient records and analyze against established criteria; conducts trend analysis.
  • Review and evaluate services provided by Product Line Teams and ensures records and reports are in compliance with all standards (The Joint Commission, , Army Regulations, Defense Health Agency, MEDCEN memorandum and pamphlets, etc.
  • Perform random sampling inspections of Product Line Teams areas to assess the quality of service.
  • Review legitimate complaints from customers or any deficiencies cited and recommends improvements or required resolutions.
  • Participate in the MEDCEN utilization review and management program.
  • Facilitate Functional Management teams to assess organizational compliance to standards.
  • Conduct briefings and training throughout the organization for sustained organizational readiness.
